Holy Family Welcomes New Pastor


The Most Reverend William Murphy, bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre, has appointed Father Gerard Gentleman as pastor of Holy Family R.C. Church in Hicksville.

Father Gentleman has served as chaplain of Holy Trinity Diocesan High School and, previously, was associate pastor and temporary administrator at St. Kilian parish in Farmingdale. An Eagle Scout, Father Gentlemen has been the chaplain of the Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting since 2001 and is active in national committees. He led the St. George Trek program at Philmont Scout Ranch and served as the Philmont Chaplain. He also served as a member of the diocesan Priest Senate, master of ceremonies of the diocesan Youth Fest 2004 and was a Catholic Relief Services global fellow.

Father Gentleman was ordained to the priesthood in 1997.
